The Fairview hotel in on Nairobi Hill describes itself as “the country hotel in town.” This Upper Hill neighborhood hotel caters primarily to business travelers.
The hotel combines beautiful gardens and well-equipped rooms (some newly renovated) with an emphasis on security, technology, and personal service.
The rooms are categorized as singles, doubles and family rooms, at a variety of price points. All rooms have telephones, televisions, and a safe to secure your valuables. The small, simply furnished economy single rooms have parquet wood floors and twin beds. Economy double rooms are newly remodeled with a shower, but may be small or without an appealing view. Economy plus rooms are slightly larger, with larger beds; however, the view and access may not be as nice as those of the economy single rooms. Bathrooms have a shower, bath, or both. Business single and double rooms are larger yet, and are more recently renovated; some of the rooms have private balconies and garden views. The recently renovated “First” single and double rooms have sleek modern furnishings, king-size beds, wood floors, large bathrooms with showers and baths, and 5-star amenities such as a trouser press. Some rooms have an air-cooling system; some have private garden access. Guests in these rooms can enjoy the First Class lounge at no additional charge. Family rooms have an adjoining room with small bunk beds, screened by a mosquito netting canopy; the rooms have views of the lawn.
All room rates include breakfast and WiFi internet access.
The Fairview also rents a number of apartments by the month; please check the hotel website for details. Apartment residents can use hotel facilities.
Guests at the Fairview have a number of dining options. The Mukutan Garden Café offers coffee and light meals, and is popular with local office workers. (Its name is Swahili for meeting place.) The Café also serves cocktails in the evenings. For a sophisticated evening, guests can dine at the new Pango Brasserie, which has an underground wine bar! The Fairview even has an authentic Sushi Bar. For a leisurely casual lunch or dinner, the Pwani Pool Restaurant serves an al fresco international menu next to the pool, and also has a bar. The hotel also offers room service.
Guests can swim in the hotel’s outdoor pool, or work out at the gym. If you wish, you can join your fellow guests to watch your favorite sporting event in the comfortable Sports Room. For business meetings, several conference rooms overlook gardens and accommodate meetings of various sizes; two have a laptop/video projector and air conditioning. A business center is available; some services cost extra. Guests in first-class rooms can relax in leather chairs, enjoy free access to computers, newspapers and magazines, and sip a cup of coffee or tea in the exclusive first class lounge. The hotel has a backup generator and water facilities; these also service the guest rooms.
