The Fairmont Mara Safari Club is located along the Mara River, on the edge of the Masai Mara.
This recently renovated, newly reopened luxury resort provides a unique experience that combines high levels of luxury and service with a stay in a tented camp. There is an indoor lodge that overlooks the river, with a number of facilities for guests. The Mara Safari Club is family friendly. Various safari packages are available. The lodge is part of the Fairmont chain.
The resort’s fifty tents are furnished with four-poster beds and pillow-top mattresses. Each tent has its own verandah overlooking the river. The tents all have private en-suite bathrooms, and some have “outdoor showers”. The beds are draped in mosquito netting, and accented with colorful locally patterned textiles. The dressers resemble leather-bound trunks, and the décor incorporates African art and sculpture. Guests can borrow electrical adapters and hair dryers from the front desk.
Restaurants & Bars
The main lodge has an indoor restaurant and bar, with leather chairs and carved wood tables. The menu includes African, European and Asian dishes made from local produce. Breakfast and lunch are served as a buffet, and dinner is served family style with a choice of entrée. The main bar and lounge is African-influenced, with private seating areas. Guests can also dine to African music in a traditional outdoor boma. The swimming pool has its own bar, which also serves light snacks. Private dining can be arranged for guests staying in larger tents with decks that can accommodate a dining table. Children’s meals are available upon prior request. The morning wake-up call is accompanied by coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
Guests can take game drives and balloon safaris, or guided walks with a Masai guide. There is a library with internet access in the main lodge. The lodge has an extensive deck overlooking the river. There is a heated swimming pool, with private tents for massages. There are nightly lectures, slide shows and traditional dance shows in the main lounge. There is a souvenir shop that also sells accessories. A variety of wedding packages are offered. The library can be used for small business conferences. Babysitting and “listening” services are available, and there are baby cots. The property has telephone and fax service, and radio contact with other camps and with most safari vehicles. Laundry and shoeshine services are offered; there is no dry cleaning. The front desk can convert small amounts of currency and has a safe deposit box for valuables. Secretarial services are available, and the front desk has internet access. For guests traveling by motor vehicle, the resort can provide diesel fuel and the services of a mechanic for minor problems. There is a clinical officer on site, and emergency evacuation services are available if required.
