The Swahili House

425425_640_427Swahili House in Tiwi is set in 20 acres of vibrant, tropical gardens and indigenous bush.

Within the grounds there are also 3 cottages all overlooking the stunning Tiwi beach. Designed using traditional Swahili style architechture, the Swahili House incorporates intricate wood work and colorful materials to create a natural and stylish feel.

Accommodation

MAIN HOUSE
The Main House has 4 rooms in total; 3 double rooms all en-suite with air -conditioning, and one single room, ensuite, with a fan. The house occupies a prime position within the grounds, tastefully furnished it opens to face the sea. There is a private swimming pool making it an ideal base for families and big groups.
NAKED AFRICA – PENTHOUSE
Set at the top of the main Swahili House is the luxurious and private penthouse. Aptly named Naked Africa, it’s easy to relax and enjoy the ultimate romantic African experience in this double room with en-suite bathroom. Naked Africa can be rented as a unit or with the Main House. With its beautifully carved Swahili doors and stylish decor- relax and rediscover love all over again.
LOFTY COTTAGE
The Lofty Cottage is ideal for small families or groups having one double room (en-suite) upstairs and two day beds downstairs. It has a private garden gazebo for alfresco dining and faces the ocean which is very close by.
SWAHILI COTTAGE
The Swahili Cottage is next to the Lofty Cottage and it has 2 double rooms both en-suite. There are glorious ocean views from the expansive upstairs verandah which has inviting lamu beds and colourful furnishings.
SWAHILI LUXURY VILLA
Perched on a cliff that offers breathtaking views of Tiwi Beach is the Swahili Villa. All three double rooms are en-suite and face the ocean so get a lovely breeze throughout the day and night. This spacious luxury villa invokes a sense of space and freedom and the whole villa is tastefully furnished with beautiful wooden “Funzi” furniture.

A swimming pool is there exclusively for the Villa and offers spectacular views of the ocean. It’s designed along the lines of a rock pool; with flowing waterfalls and intricate stone and wood details; perfect as you sip on a chilled sundowner in this beautiful location.

TOTAL – 10 double rooms, 1 single room, 2 day beds and lamu beds on the veranda. Can accommodate between 21-25 guests.

Facilities
The cottages and House have well equipped kitchens for self catering, and if you prefer to take it easy, there is a chef on site who is happy to create delicious dishes for all guests.

Location
Swahili House is half way between Diani and Mombasa, found away from the commercial tourist scene and noise of city life. Within the area, the cottages are surrounded by many indigenous trees and the wildlife that these mature and impressive tress support; bushbabies, vervet monkeys, dik dik, mongoose, serval cats and the many birds to name a few.

Recommended For
Guests can rent out the house and cottages as a whole unit, or may prefer to rent individual units depending on the size of the group.

Swahili House is managed by a company who also manage The Poa Place Resort in Eldoret, The Kongoni Lodgeand Wileli House, both in Naivasha.

Directions: The Swahili House is located 14km south of Mombasa and 12km north of Diani Beach. In Mombasa, cross the ferry to Ukunda and then drive down towards Diani. After 14km, look out for the signs to Swahili House which you’ll find on the left hand side of the road.
