Havana Restaurant & Bar

1005749_10151729916384181_1291346891_nHavanas is a latin style cocktail bar and has been a popular watering hole for aid workers for many years now.

Indiana Jones look-alikes, congregate and swap stories among their peers over a cold Tusker or a jug of sangria.

Reliving their adventures from neighbouring Sudan, Somalia and other war torn parts of the continent, this is a relaxed bar with a good atmosphere. It’s often full at weekends and the live music, (though pretty squished!) on Friday evenings really rocks!

With no more than a dozen tables at most, this is what a good old fashioned saloon bar should be! With a low-lit interior and tall stories a plenty, it’s a nice place to hang out. Havanas offers great tapas and has a surprisingly good menu for such a small establishment. Margaritas and mojitos come highly recommended.

If you don’t have any stories of wrestling with 30 foot pythons or escaping near death in plane crashes, then don’t worry; it’s a cosmopolitan crowd and not everybody here has to be the adventurous type!

Local Tip

Hang on to your bag when you leave ladies – bag snatching street children are not unheard of in this area!
