Just on the Outskirts of Karen, this lovely restaurant is a place worth visiting.
The combination of a fabulous eastern menu, artistic décor and typically “white Kenyan” rural rustic charm is the thing that really makes people drive from one side of Nairobi to the other experience this blend of Eastern/African magic.
- The main eating area is centred around a large patio overlooking a stretch of garden. Scattered around are various sculptures and wooden carvings imported from Thailand and the far East. Semi-covered eating areas go around the edge of the patio with artwork lining the walls. These can be a welcome retreat from the sun or rain.
- A tiny bar and waiting area are found at the entrance to the Talisman, and around this area there’s usually a variety of local art on display with occasional largerArt Exhibitions featuring local artists.
- This is definitely worth a visit; however, you’ll need to book ahead if dining at the weekend. Weekdays are quieter, but if you’re traveling from far away, booking a table may be advisable.
- As with most places in Kenya, this is a child friendly environment. The large open garden (with a swing) is a good place for children to escape to if they get bored with the adult conversation.
Book ahead as this is a very popular restaurant at weekends.
