Chef Shin’s catering experience, dates back almost 30 years, to the days when he worked as a sushi chef in 5 star establishments in Korea. After many years, Chef Shin was transferred to the prestigious Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi and in 2001 he decided to open the first Tokyo Restaurant in Westlands. Success followed success, and a year later, in 2002 this Tokyo branch at the Village Market was opened. In 2009, Tokyo opened its third establishment in Karen. Chef Shin is apparently, the only Chef in Kenya with a Japanese cookery license. Over the years, he has catered for customers including Ministers of State and Ambassadors of various Nations.

The three Tokyo restaurants (Westlands Branch, Village Market and Karen Branch) offer the same high standards of food preparation, all overseen closely by Chef Shin. Each restaurant has it’s own unique ambience and feel.
